Access, surfaces, winter bubbles, public hours — then the map.

How Toronto tennis works

Read these once. The map makes more sense afterward.

Etiquette, hours, Unseeded

The unwritten (and written) rules: rotation at public parks, community-club hours, indoor booking, and how Season 1 matches should use this map.

How to play tennis in Toronto

Reading the map

Toronto tennis courts come in a handful of access flavours. Knowing the difference is the difference between an open gate, a locked fence, and a $70 indoor hour.

Access types, explained

Pace, bounce, knees

Surface changes the match: how fast the ball comes through, how true the bounce is, and how your joints feel the next morning. Public Toronto is overwhelmingly hardcourt.

Court surfaces in Toronto

By the numbers

Every venue in this directory — public parks, community clubs, schools, commercial bubbles, and private clubs — rolled into counts you can actually use.

Filtered directories with the live map.

Walk up. No membership.

City of Toronto parks where you can show up with a racquet and play — the backbone of Unseeded Season 1. Watch for 30–60 minute rotations when people are waiting.

Free public tennis courts in Toronto

After-work tennis

Courts with lights so you can play after 7pm. Essential for Fall Season 1 round windows when sunset hits before you leave the office.

Lighted tennis courts for night matches

October to April

Bubbles, field houses, and year-round clubs for when municipal outdoor courts go dark. Book ahead — winter inventory is tight.

Indoor & winter tennis in Toronto

City courts, club hours

Neighbourhood tennis clubs on City land. Members have priority, but published public hours are for everyone — including Unseeded matches.

Community clubs with public hours

Softer on the joints

Green clay and red clay venues in the city. Slower bounce, longer rallies, different shoes. Rare — and mostly behind club gates.

Clay tennis courts in Toronto

Book by the hour

Commercial clubs, winter bubbles, and academies where you pay for court time. No country-club waitlist required for a single booking.

Pay-to-play tennis courts in Toronto

After the bell

TDSB and other public-school courts. Access is uneven: some stay open after hours, others are fenced and locked. Treat them as a backup, not a plan A.

High Park, Eglinton Flats, Sir Adam Beck, and Etobicoke parks. West End is Unseeded’s densest public-court zone.
